Dr. Omar Syed is a fellowship trained, board-certified neurosurgeon with CareMount Medical Group. He is a Fellow of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons. Dr. Syed completed his neurosurgical residency at the Neurological Institute at New York Presbyterian – Columbia University Medical Center and a fellowship in complex and minimally invasive spine surgery at the Semmes-Murphey Clinic at the University of Tennessee at Memphis. He completed his undergraduate degree from the City College of New York and received his medical degree from New York University School of Medicine.
Dr. Syed specializes in brain tumors and complex and minimally invasive spinal surgery. He is the Assistant Director of the Gamma Knife Center at Northern Westchester Hospital. Dr. Syed has expertise in the use of this specialized, non-invasive radiation therapy for patients with brain tumors and patients with trigeminal neuralgia. Additionally, Dr. Syed has authored numerous journal articles and written several book chapters related to brain and spine neurosurgery.
