Dr. Benzil has excelled in both academic and clinic practice throughout her career, and she specializes in stereotactic spine radiosurgery (SRS) - a ground-breaking treatment that is helping patients experience better outcomes from hard-to-treat conditions such as brain metastases, spine tumors, and Parkinson's disease.
Dr. Benzil was responsible for the establishment of the first stereotactic radiosurgery program in New York State for patients with both cancerous and non-cancerous conditions impacting the spine in 2001. Since that time, she has served as a mentor for other neurosurgeons worldwide, and she continues to treat patients with complex conditions here at NWH.
Fluent in both English and Spanish, Dr. Benzil has achieved board certification in Neurological Surgery; she specializes in neuro-oncology, neurosurgery, spine surgery, and Gamma Knife radiosurgery.
Dr. Benzil is also committed to advancing the field of neurosurgery and improving patient access, and she works tirelessly to support education and patient care programs through a number of universities and non-profit organizations.
